When you have a fever, your
body temperature is higher
than normal. The high
heat kills many germs.
It also tells your
white blood cells
to work harder.

White blood cells rush to places
where germs are spreading. The
crowds of extra germ fighters
can make some areas swell up,
giving you a stuffy nose, a
sore throat, or other aches.

You cough to force out germs
and other things trapped in
sticky mucus, so they won’t
block your breathing.

Your body works so hard to fight
all the germs that you feel tired.

So get some rest,

and get well soon!
