In early2019,TrueBlueBaylaunched
Grenada’s first self-sustaining suites – the
22 Cocoa Pod rooms. Rainwater is harvested
from roofs, stored in tanks and treated
before being piped into the rooms and two
new freshwater swimming pools. Solar
panels heat water and generate electricity.

The Cocoa Pod rooms are furnished
using sustainable materials, including
ethically sourced wood, to make the interiors
environmentally friendly.

3

The use of plastic straws and Styrofoam
has been banned at True Blue Bay since
1998; it’s estimated that this policy has
avoided the use of 2 million plastic straws.
Wherever possible, paper has replaced
plastic across the resorts – for example, in
bags used in the resort boutique and boxes
and bags for takeaways.

4

True Blue Bay’s food waste is either used
to create compost for the resort gardens
or given to farmers as feed for animals.

5

The resort is Green Globe certified
and earned second place in the
Environmental Sustainability category in the
Caribbean Hospitality Information Exchange
Forum awards in 2018.
