AXLE BUYER’S GUIDE

mild and emergency braking conditions.
The oversized rotors, along with the larger
caliper brackets, extend your OE calipers
farther from the centerline of the wheel
and create more leverage to increase the
stopping power. Oversized rotors allow for
more surface contact with the brake pads,
and they have curved slots for an aggres-
sive initial bite for even distribution of
work and heat. The included Rock-Biting
brake pads are rotor-friendly and dyno-
tested for maximum performance and
service life. INFORMATION: G2 A xle & Gear,

(^14) BEEFY STEERING
RuffStuff Specialties now offers the
Heavy Duty Steering Kit for Jeeps. The new
Y-link 1-ton bolt-on steering kit fits XJ, TJ,
LJ, ZJ, and MJ model Jeeps. Replacing the
factory inverted-T steering linkage with the
knuckle to knuckle Y- link is said to eliminate
the constant toe in, toe out motion. Tie rod
roll and death wobble is eliminated with
the use of RuffStuff’s The Cure bushing.
The kit is designed as a bolt-in replacement
for factory steering on Jeeps with up to a
4-inch lif t and will work on up to a 6 -inch lif t
with a drop pitman arm and an extended
track bar. All tubing included for both the tie
rod and draglink are 1020 1.5x0.250-wall
DOM. INFORMATION: RuffStuff Specialties,

(^15) HEAVY OIL
Are you an axle abuser? Red Line Oil
may have the lubricant for you, the Heavy
ShockProof synthetic gear oil. The Heavy
ShockProof synthetic gear oil is said to
provide the greatest extreme-pressure
protection, the lowest coefficient of fric-
tion available, thicker oil films between
gear teeth, and gear-tooth shock loading
protection. It’s al so said to reduce metal-
to-metal contact, dramatically reduce
temperatures, resist throw-off, and reduce
gear noise. Plus, it’s compatible with petro -
leum oils and other synthetic oils. The
Heavy ShockProof gear oil can be rated as
a 75W250 gear oil, but has the lower inter-
nal fluid friction of an SAE 75W90. Light-
Weight 75W140 and SuperLight 70W90
are also available. INFORMATION: Red Line
Oil, 800.624.7958, redlineoil.com.
(^16) HAMMER TIME
G2 A xle & Gear introduces the Hammer
differential covers for the Jeep JL and
Gladiator models. Applications include
the front Dana 30, rear Dana 35, and Dana
44 axles for the Jeep JL Wrangler and
JT Gladiator. Each G2 Hammer cover is
made from thick ductile iron and is said to
withstand the punishment and impacts
that you may encounter on the trail. A
magnetic Zero-Leak fill plug makes top-
ping off fluid easy while filtering some
of the metal particles from your oil. The
Hammer cover comes with a reusable
aluminum-core gasket making it simple to
install or take of f. A gray powdercoat satin
finish keeps the Hammer cover free from
corrosion. INFORMATION: G2 A xle & Gear,

(^17) BIGGER ENDS
Reid Racing now offers the Super King-
pin knuckle assembly. These massive
inner and outer steering knuckles are said
to combine the best features of the famil-
iar kingpin Dana 60/70 and the 2005-cur-
rent Ford Super Duty Dana 60 unit bearing
knuckles. Dana 60/70 upper and lower
kingpins are used and can be assembled
with Reid Racing bronze upper kingpin
bushings. The oversized knuckles provide
clearance for 1480, 1550, Rockwell, and
CV-style axle joints. The kingpins spread
out an additional 1^1 ⁄ 2 inches for greater
load carrying capacity. Outer knuckles
are cast from high-strength ductile iron
and utilize OEM 2005-current Ford Super
Duty unit bearings, lockout hubs, stub
shafts, U-joints, and 2005-2012 brake
calipers and rotors. They also have a flat-
top pad machined for six ARP high-steer
studs, allowing for aftermarket steering
arms. The inner knuckles are forged from
steel and heat treated for maximum
strength. They are available in the most
common axletube diameters and come
powdercoated in Reid Racing’s signa-
ture orange. INFORMATION: Reid Racing,
