The drawing image engraved on
paper and two copies of the same
drawing laser-cut on different coloured
acrylic sheets
The steps to create a
composition of alternate colours.
First the internal parts that will
contain other pieces are refined
with a small cutter tool to create
more space for the glue that
should remain visible
paper and well-calibrated laser power
I engraved the paper surface with the
entire drawing. In this case a sheet of
plywood would also work, it just depends
on what kind of background you prefer.
Then I used only the external frame of the
plastic components following these steps:
- Lightly spray a metallic paint on the
laser engraved drawing base. This
should not cover the drawing, but just
create a shading over it. It is better if
it is not even over the entire surface. - Painted the same metallic spray colour
over the laser-cut frame several times
to give a solid consistency. - Glue the metal-painted frame to
its corresponding position on the
engraved sheet of paper.
This same procedure can be used for
more complex drawings using more
colours depending on your own taste.
