Following the completion of the Rotiklot Dam in
Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara province, it has
been announced that construction of an irrigation
system will begin. “Construction of the dam will
be followed by the development of an irrigation
system. Hence, the dam, which was expensive
to build, is to benefit the public. We can assure
the public that water [from the dam] will irrigate
farmers’ lands,” explained Public Works and
Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

The construction of the dam and future
completion of the irrigation system are vital
to the area due to water becoming a key
factor for development in East Nusa Tenggara,
which receives less rain than other regions
in the country. The dam has the capacity to
retain 3.3 million cubic metres of water and
will supply 40 litres per second of clean water
for local residents while also boosting the
surrounding areas.

ADVENTURETIME

ndonesia has long been
recognised as one of the most
beautiful places in the world
with the number of tourist
visitors consistently rising.
This is being recognised by a
leading Chinese tech company
as it seeks to promote famous sites in the
archipelago. ByteDance’s short video app
TikTok and Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism
have announced that they are teaming up
to create a series of programmes with the

aim of promoting 10 must-see Indonesian
destinations.
One of the heads of the Indonesian
Ministry of Tourism’s “Wonderful Indonesia”
co-branding team, Priyantono Rudito, said
that this programme is the first in a series of
collaborations to promote the stunning sites
of Indonesia. While TiKTok had some trouble
with the Indonesian government last year, this
is an exciting new partnership that is aimed at
bringing more tourists from Korea, China, and
other Asian countries.
