Double Crochet (dc)
Make a yarn over and insert the hook through the previous row stitch.
Grasp the working yarn again to create another yarn over and pull it
through toward you—you have three loops on the hook. Make ano-
ther yarn over and pull it through two of the three loops—two loops
left on the hook. Make another yarn over and pull it through both
loops—only one loop on the hook now (illustrations 8–11).

Treble Crochet (tr)
A treble crochet is worked similar to a double crochet (see above); the
diff erence is that at the beginning, instead of one yarn over, you make
two yarn overs onto the hook before you insert the hook through the
previous row stitch. After you have pulled the working yarn through,
there will be four loops on the hook. Grasp the working yarn again
and pull it through two of the fours loops on the hook. Now, grasp
the working yarn again and pull it through two loops, and a last time,
grasp the working yarn again and pull it through both loops.
