Hose and Couplings Expand ProXT Line
THE NEW ProXT hydraulic hose line and PRO Series couplings from
Gates expand the company’s PRO Series line of professional-grade
hydraulic hardware. The ProXT hoses are available in seven sizes ranging
from ¼ to 1 in. and meet SAE 100R2/R16, ISO 11237 R16 and EN 857 2SC
industry standards. Gates is also a hose that addresses the EN 857 1SC
industry standard. PRO Series couplings are qualifed for use with the full
line of PRO Series hoses. They are available with all popular terminations
(corresponding crimp specifcations are published online).

A NEW LINE OF linear actuators from Atlanta Drive Systems Inc. uses precision ball-screw
spindles and zero-backlash nuts enclosed in protective housings, driven directly by high-
precision servo-worm reducers. The moving spindle extension is protected with a bellows to
prevent contaminants, including powders used for additive manufacturing from getting in.
The actuators can precisely control the position of the powder bed, lowering it by 20 to 100
micrometers (0.0008 in. to 0.0040 in.), the typical thickness of a 3D-printed layer. The actuator
also supports the weight of the powder bed and, once the part is complete, can return the
bed to the home position to start another part. For applications where the bed cannot be
guided by linear guides due to potential powder contamination, Atlanta can offer special
linear actuators with an integrated linear rail and carriage that is fully enclosed in the
actuator. For applications requiring operation within a vacuum, the Atlanta linear actuators
can also be provided with seal surfaces on the ballscrew to allow for vacuum operation while
having the servo-worm reducer drive from outside the vacuum environment.
