AMA Supercross series will be
reaching its climax and, in all
likelihood, KTM’s Cooper Webb
will be on the verge of his fi rst
championship. That means
Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac will have
to wait another year to claim
his maiden title and Webb’s
teammate, Marvin Musquin, will
be 30 before he has another
shot at it.
This AMA Supercross season
has been one of the best, with
so many title contenders still in

appearance for Geico Honda,
having suffered a shoulder
injury which ruled him out of
the brutal supercross rounds.
Hunter looks to be in red-hot
form and will be a serious title
contender, even in his fi rst year.
Meanwhile, we are still
waiting for Suzuki to offi cially
announce the signing of Dean
Ferris for the series. Sound
familiar? Despite a minor
setback after crashing in
Europe while fi lling in for
Roman Febvre on his Monster
Energy Yamaha YZ450F, Ferris
has been training hard back
home in Oz.
He certainly seems to think
he has a ride and if the
workhorse from Queensland
can stay healthy and fi nd the
fi tness, drive and form that saw

him dominate our MX Nats for
two years we are sure he will be
at the pointy end come August.
But, what makes us even
more excited for the AMA
outdoor season is the prospect
of Chad Reed racing a few
rounds. That’s right, Reed told
ADB he hasn’t ruled out the
possibility of hopping on a bike
for some practice after
knocking himself silly in Seattle.
Wouldn’t that be a sight?
However, we aren’t sure
where Reed will get a bike,
seeing as how Ferris is
supposed to be jumping on his
JGR Suzuki. There aren’t many
slots on offer in the U.S.,
forcing several riders to return
home, including the likes of
Hayden Mellross who’s now
kicking arse at Raceline KTM.
Obviously it’s not all peaches
and cream in the U.S. but here’s
hoping our motocross crew can
do well this season, emulating
the other Aussies plying their
trade over there, like Tayla
Jones who got bored with
winning everything on a
dirtbike in the bush so had a
crack at doing it on an eMTB
and won that as well. Then
there’s Kawasaki’s Josh Strang
who’s fl ying our fl ag in the
GNCC, with NSW’s Mackenzie
Tricker and Kiwi Rachael Archer
keeping Jones honest in the
WXC class of the same series.
And now onto Europe...
SUPERCROSS IS
NEARLY OVER SO
