REARGUARD

Re-route
TROUBLE
The petrol cap vent hose on the reverse-head
Yamaha YZ-F comes out from the fuel cap under the
seat and over the airbox lid. It looks a little messy.

TRIK
Take the vent hose and slide it down the side of the
tank behind the radiator shroud. This way the hose
will vent down the side of the tank and your bike will
look much tidier.

Clean It Up
TROUBLE
Tyre stickers are the thing at the moment. They add
some real spark to a bike but if they aren’t fi tted
correctly they won’t stay on for very long.
TRIK
Put some methylated spirits or “wax and grease
remover” on a rag and clean the side wall of the tyre
before applying the sticker. If you don’t they will not
stick correctly and will come off very quickly.

Bumped Off
TROUBLE
Sometimes on long trailrides you can fi nd yourself
getting lazy and sliding back on the seat, which
causes the front-end to wash out in corners.
TRIK
Take a handlebar pad and cut it in half. Glue it in place
on the seat foam and then refi t the seatcover. This will
give you something to sit against and stop you from
sliding backwards.

Sticky Thread
TROUBLE
Dirt can build up on the thread of shock spring
preload adjusters, making them diffi cult to turn.
TRIK
Spray some lube on the thread of the preload
adjuster and then work the spring collar up and
down until it loosens up.
