OUTGROWN
I am 13 and live on a
farm 200km from
Adelaide. At the moment
I am riding a Suzuki
DR-Z125-L but it is
getting a little small for
me as I am just shy of six
foot. My first question is
what would be a good
bike for me? I am looking
for something that is road
registrable and isn’t
overly expensive but it
should still have good
off-road capabilities.
I was also wondering if
doing an ag bike comparo
would be worthwhile.
This is because there
aren’t many reviews on ag
bikes and a comparo could

cover them all. I think that
lots of farmers would read
your magazine if you did
one. Anyway, hopefully
you can get back to me and
thanks for having the best
dirtbike magazine ever!!!

You’re tall for a 13-year-old,

must be the chicken! At six foot
you should be fi ne on a 250F
trailbike like the Suzuki
DR-Z250, Kawasaki KLX250,
Yamaha TT-R250 or Honda
CRF250L. These bikes are more
capable off-road than an ag
bike. Plus, they are road legal
and you won’t outgrow them as

you head to the NBL!
You should be able to fi nd a
good second-hand example of
any of these bikes at a
reasonable price. Regarding the
aggies, we did a farm bike
comparo back in October, 2012
(ADB #397).
All the ag bikes we tested
back then (Honda CTX200,
Kawasaki Stockman, Suzuki
Trojan and Yamaha AG200) were
great but sadly the line-up
hasn’t changed that much and
not all manufacturers keep
these models ready to go on
their press fl eets. Perhaps it’s
time for our cattle-chasing
Editor, Mitch Lees, to line up a
few farmer mates to pit
Honda’s latest AG-XR 200
against the competition.

KX500 CONVERSION
HELP NEEDED!
Hope all ya tanks are full
and your tyres inflated!
I’m a long-time reader,
first-time mailer and I
seriously have every
single magazine printed
since I was 16. Now that
I’m nudging 40 you can
safely say I’m a dedicated
reader!
Love the mag! Think
you guys do a fantastic
job. The reason for
putting “pen to paper” is
that I’m chasing some
info on transplanting a
2001 Kawasaki KX500
engine into a 2015
KX250F alloy frame. Do
you guys have or know of
any conversion
information/guides/
instructions/manuals to
carry out the job?
I can find plenty of
info on the Honda 500cc
conversion and,

obviously, they would be
similar but I would love
to get my hands on some
tech specs for the
Kawasaki.
If you could supply me
with a contact or point
me in the right direction,
I would be extremely
grateful. If I have to do it
from scratch I will
document and record
everything and happily

pass the info back to
ADB to distribute if ever
asked again by another
reader.
Thanks again for
making ADB magazine
so great for so long! I
hope to still be reading it
in another 20 years if
this monster I want to
build hasn’t retired me
from riding.

We’ve done a few stories with
REBORNmx, a Sydney-based
company that specialises in
two-stroke conversions and
they should be your fi rst
contact. These guys know what
they are doing when it comes
to Kawasaki two-strokes and
will be able to point you in the
right direction. You can fi nd
contact details for REBORNmx
on their Facebook page or on
0481 381 772.
