Australasian Dirt Bike – June 2019

(backadmin) #1

JARROD BEWLEY
GRASSTRACK
First thing I noticed
was how smooth
the power was. I
liked the way it
handled. The front
was a little soft, until we went
fi rmer on the clickers. Overall I felt
it was balanced and turned well. I
was pretty happy with the
total package.
ENDUROCROSS
I was really comfortable standing
on this bike, the footpegs-to-bar
height felt spot-on through the
technical stuff. Power was best in
the Aggressive mode, which just
made it easier to pop over stuff.
The suspension package was nice
and plush over all the obstacles.
EXTREME ENDURO
Overall I had a good feeling with
the Husky on the extreme track.
The smooth power worked really
well, trickling across the side of
hills. The brake feel was nice on
all the big hills as well. Defi nitely a
nice, easy bike in extreme enduro
conditions.

JOHN PAYTEN
GRASSTRACK
I liked the way it
turned and felt. The
engine had plenty
of power whenever
I needed it and
having the map switch was nice.
ENDUROCROSS
When I fi rst rode it on the
endurocross track I thought it
wasn’t that good, until I realised
how easy it was to ride compared
to the none-EFI bikes. The mellow
delivery was very nice on my arms.
EXTREME ENDURO
Loved the feeling of the power up
the hills. As it was so linear I could
get along the off-cambers hills
with minimal effort.

OLLY MALONE
GRASSTRACK
It was the fi rst
bike I rode on the
grasstrack so the
layout was pretty
smooth. I didn’t
feel the need to change anything,
as it turned really nicely and felt
good under acceleration. This was
my fi rst time on a TPI bike [Olly’s
long-termer is an EC300] so it was
weirdly smooth. It felt a little down
on power but far from slow.
ENDUROCROSS
The smooth power of the EFI was
very useful for me on this layout. I
didn’t get as tired and just found it
easy to ride. The suspension was a
tad on the fi rm side. The seat was
great, super grippy.
EXTREME ENDURO
The Husky was the last bike I rode,
and even being so tired I still got
around the track better than on
most of the other bikes. It was just
so easy I couldn’t fault it. I had a
lot of fun, so that’s why I liked it
so much.

AARON VINCENT
GRASSTRACK
Defi nitely felt
very stable, with a
plush front end. It
did feel a fraction
heavier than some
of the other bikes but did feel like
a good, comfortable package all
round.
ENDUROCROSS
I was most at home on the
Husqvarna. I do have a 2017 at
home so that makes sense. I just
get a stable, predictable feeling on
this bike.
EXTREME ENDURO
I’d take the Husqvarna for the
extreme track. The suspension
tracked really well and the power
felt like it went straight to the
ground, as it never broke traction.
The throttle trail made the
extreme track easier than on some
of the other bikes.

TPI engine is deceptively smooth and good

Composite subframe is now just two pieces

That’s the fi ller for the two-stroke oil up front

No one even mentioned the brakes

Tank holds only 9.25L but EFI makes up for it
