keentoseehowthenewmodelfelt.
Hoppingoffanyoftheotherbikes,
theBeta’sseatheightof930mmis
easilythelowestandyounoticeit
straightaway.It’ssomethingIlikeas
I’mnotoverlytall.
Ifoundtheengineverypowerful
withitsnewECUandadjustableBPV
exhaustvalve.Iactuallyfoundittoo
aggressive,soaquickstopatBeta
guruVichadhimadjustthepower
valvetomellowoutthepower.
Thiswasafastfixandhadme
muchhappierwiththedelivery.I
foundtheRainmodeoptionwiththe
mapswitchwasmypreferredsetting


overallthetracks.Betahasgonewith
aZFSachs48mmforkandredesigned
ZFSachsmonoshockfollowinga
rebrandingbythatcompany.Onthe
grasstrackIwashappywiththembut
ontheendurocrossandextreme
tracksIgotalotofharshnessfrom
bothends.InthepasttheBetahas
beenverysurefootedintechostuff,so
itwasasurprisetofeelthiswasn’t
thecaseanymore.Theotherfeature
thatmakesthisbikefeeldifferent
fromtherest,isthelowseatanda
tallishhandlebargivesitaslight
trials-bikefeelandthat’snota
surprisewithBeta’sstronghistoryin
thatdiscipline.
It’sstilltheperfect-sizedbikefor
ridersontheshorterside, withits
strongenginethatiseasilytuneable
viathepowervalveandmapswitch
it’sdefinitelygotaplaceinthis
competitiveclass.
