Standing mat
A contoured mat like the Ergodriven Topo
(£178, ergodriven.com) will both encourage
proper pronation of your feet, which should
ensure you don’t inadvertently injure yourself,
and drive subconscious movement so you
don’t stand static for too long.

Balance board
Going one further and putting your feet
on a ‘wobbler’ board like the Steppie (£111,
steppie.dk/en) can help ensure your core
gets involved in the process of standing.
Use a flat anti-fatigue standing mat like the
Steppie Soft Top (£66) to cushion it, too.

Standing stool
For 20 years, the
classic balance stool has
been the Aeris Swopper
(from £470 for the Standard,
aeris.de/en). The neat little
stool is perfect for a more
upright sitting position. Also
consider the more standing-
focused Aeris Muvman
(£359).
