notthatthe7 Serieswasa bad-lookingcarbackthen,butallcarsneeda mid-lifefacelift
andthe7 hasbeengivenjustthat.itswheelbasehasnowincreasedby 14 millimetresand
overalllengthby 23 mm,to5,260mm.itswidthandheightremainunchanged,though.
theextensivedesignchangeatthefrontendstartswithanincreaseinheightby 50 mmat
itsforemostpointandthisplaysa prominentroleingivingthisflagshipcaranimposing
stance.thebonnethassharplycutcontourlineswitha largerbmwroundel.thedominant
featureofthereworkedfrontendisthebigbmwkidneygrillewitha 40percentincreasein
thesurfacearea.Slimlaserlightsmergeintothisbigkidneygrille.
theouterairintakesinthelowersectionofthefrontapronarenowoverlaidwithlargeair
deflectors.theseguidetheoncomingairefficientlytothebrakeairductsandaircurtains,
whichhelpinreducingairturbulencearoundthewheel-arches.thenewairbreathersinthe
uprightformexudeprecision,clarity,andsolidity.integrated into the side-panels of the new
7 Series, these air outlets now extend further upwards and their trim strips form a 90-degree
angle with the side trim elements, which run all the way to the rear apron.
