The World of Cross Stitching 23

Winter Floral Bunting Project

1 Trim each stitched piece to a triangular
shape, leaving a 2cm (¾in) border around your
stitching. Cut a piece of colour-coordinating
backing fabric to match.

2 Pin the right sides of the stitched piece and
backing fabric together. Sew the sides with
a 1cm (½in) seam allowance along the edges of
your stitched piece, leaving the top edge open.
Trim away excess fabric from the corners, then
turn through and press.

3 Now attach two seed beads and one
pearl drop bead to the tip of each flag. Using a
beading needle, attach your thread to the point
of the flag and then insert through one seed
bead, then the pearl bead and then through the
second seed bead. Then, reverse direction and
go back through the pearl bead and the first
seed bead. Next, secure the end to the tip.

4 Fold your bias binding in half and
sandwich the unstitched edges of your bunting
flags inside, then pin together. Make sure you
leave a long length of bias binding at either end
so you can hang your finished bunting.

5 Stitch along the open edge of the bias
binding using thread in a coordinating colour,
sewing through all of the layers.
