Meet our guests

Three words to describe you?
Patient, creative, determined.
What has been your favourite
cross stitch project?
My mum bought me a gorgeous cross
stitch kit featuring two giraffe faces.
It took me a whopping 80 hours
to stitch, but it is stunning. I have it
framed in my lounge.
What do you love the most
about cross stitching?
The best thing about cross stitching
is that it’s ‘my time’. I can switch off
completely and immerse myself in
it, which helps me to relax.
Your cross stitch heaven?
I would love to own a craft shop
where I could run cross stitch classes.
Fave recent WOXS design?
The ‘Picture Perfect’ 3D designs by
Heather Nugent in
issue 281 are brilliant.
I don’t think I’ve ever
seen anything like this
before, and I would
really like to try them.

How’d you start stitching?
I tried crochet, knitting and sewing,
and wanted to try something new, so
I picked up a cross stitch kit. That was
three years ago, and now it’s the only
craft hobby that I still regularly do.
What are you stitching now?
At the moment I’m currently working
on one of my own designs, which is
a quote with a number of Bengal
cats, to represent the two Bengal cats
that we rehomed a short time ago!
Recent WOXS
design you love?
The ‘Adorable Fox’
from the September
2019 issue (284).
Autumn is my
favourite season,
and I love autumnal colours.
Fave cross stitch designer?
Emma Congdon at Stitchrovia. Her
designs are always so intricate and
modern, and I love the variety of
fonts she uses. I want to work on her
‘Shoot for the Moon’ design next.

Fave WOXS design?
I love the ‘Bird Quilt’ by Lucie Heaton
in the August 2019 issue (283). I don’t
quilt so I am trying to come up with
another way of finishing it. Perhaps I’ll
turn it into a collage or afghan...
What’s your proudest or most
memorable stitching moment?
Each time I finish a piece. It is great
to think about framing it and where
to hang it, or how the recipient will
feel. I do my own framing so the
satisfaction continues with each step.
What has been your best
compliment for one of your
cross stitch pieces?
My daughter crying from happiness
when she received her gift. You can’t
get much better than that.
What’s been your worst
stitching disaster?
A wolf I finished last year. It
was a small design, but the
colours were all so close –
I got tired of frogging! I was
happy to see that one end.
