Project 3D Beaded Baubles

Stitching your
own decorations
is a great way to
make your tree
stand out! I like the
effect of the beads
and gold cord on
these designs.

How to...

3 Place stitching face down,
with the wadding on top and the
mount board sticky-side-up. Fold over
edges of the stitching onto the sticky
backing board, lining your stitching up
with the edges of the mount board.

2 Back the mount board with
acid-free double-sided tape, making
sure that the whole area is completely
covered. Next, use some scissors to
carefully trim to the shape of the circle
and then peel off the backing strips.

1 Cut out two 7.5cm (3in) diameter
circles of mount board, two circles
of thick wadding and one circle
of backing fabric. Next, trim your
stitching to a 2cm (¾in) border and
cut a piece of backing fabric to match.

6 Finish by gluing gold cord along
the join between the two halves. If
necessary, use pegs or pins to hold
everything in place until the glue has
dried. Now your baubles are ready to
hang on your Christmas tree!

5 Using a glue gun or strong all-
purpose craft glue, stick the front and
back halves together, lining them up
carefully. If you use all-purpose glue,
hold the halves together with pegs
until the glue has dried overnight.

4 Cut a 15cm (6in) length of cord
and fold to create a hanging loop.
Glue in place. Repeat step 3 with
circle of backing fabric to create
reverse side. If using a hot glue gun,
take care and read the instructions.
