Obi-Wan Kenobi in this

action adventure

game. Set weeks

before the beginning

of The Phantom Menace, Kenobi

attempts to prove himself worthy of

becoming a Jedi Knight and is sent on

a mission to investigate the rise of a

threat in the lower levels of Coruscant.

No stranger to wretched hives of

scum and villainy, you go through

a series of missions brushing

shoulders with the lowest of the low,

that merge with some of the events

from the movie, with the final mission

being Obi-Wan’s confrontation with

Darth Maul.

This was the first of a series of

exclusive Star Wars titles on Xbox, but

it’s sadly not one of the best games

out there. Star Wars: Obi-Wan is,

however, notable for its really

ingenious, dynamic lightsaber combat,

which is controlled using the right

analogue stick – the lightsaber’s

movements would mimic the direction

you push the stick.

A limited multiplayer mode called

Jedi Battle featured,

in which two players

would select one

character from a

roster of unlockable

heroes and then do

battle within a

small arena. Q

BELOW Obsidian expanded the combat

system to give you a variety of

lightsaber fighting styles.

Following up on one of the

best RPGs of all time would

be daunting for most

developers, but Obsidian

took it in its stride and delivered a fitting

sequel to Bioware’s classic.

The story continues five years after

the events of the Light side story of

KOTOR. The Jedi have been hunted by the

Sith to the point of near-extinction and

it’s up to you, an exiled Jedi and the only

hope, to find the survivors and make a

stand. Once again, you’re given the

choice of Light and Dark paths, and it’s

possible to kill the remaining Jedi as

revenge for exiling you. The game also

features an expanded lightsaber combat

system that gives you a variety of

fighting forms to choose from. Q
