nstead of making a
sequel to 2005’s
Battlefront II, EA
decided it would be
better to just reboot
the franchise and start again. To help
it do so, the publisher brought in the
talented developers at DICE, which
you’ll surely know from its insanely
popular Battlefield series.
As a result, 2015’s Battlefront is an
absolute blast to play, however it does
lack a single-player campaign, instead
opting to focus on battles that take
place throughout the Star Wars canon
- such as the crucial battles on Hoth
or Endor. Later DLC packs were made
available and feature a fierce battle
on Jakku (an event that’s referenced
in The Force Awakens), as well as
skirmishes in Cloud City, the Death
Star and on Scarif, which features
heavily in the movie Rogue One.
What makes this game stand
out from other Star Wars battle sims
is its impressive audio design,
something which was iterated on for
Battlefront’s sequel that arrived in
- Much like the ‘classic’
Battlefront games, you can play as
heroes like Han Solo and
Luke Skywalker, and take
part in intense space
battles. These dogfights
are particularly thrilling
and where we spend
most of our time playing
the game. Q
