uch like its

predecessor, Jedi

Academy has

incredible lightsaber

combat that really

makes you feel as powerful as you

should when wielding a white-hot

laser sword. This combat was a huge

inspiration for the combat found in the

upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Two years on from the previous Jedi

Knight game, Kyle Katarn and Luke

Skywalker head up a Jedi Academy to

train new Padawans, one of which is

you, Jaden Korr. This time around you

can create your own character, giving

you the option to choose your own

gender, species and, later in the

game, your very own Lightsaber,

choosing the hilt and colour. Unlike

the previous game, you can use a

double-bladed lightsaber as well as

duel-wield regular ones. You begin

your story at the Jedi Academy,

training to become a Jedi with your

friend and slightly impatient fellow

student, Rosh Penin. To no one’s

surprise, Rosh falls to the Dark side

and you head out on a mission to stop

the Sith from rising

to power once again.

Just like the previous

game, there is a

multiplayer mode

which features a

variety of different

game types. Q

BELOW Has anyone else noticed

there’s always a massive, endlessly

deep shaft in all space stations?

Jedi Outcast is up there with

some of the best Star Wars

games. It focuses on Kyle

Katarn, a former Jedi who

turned away from the force after having

almost succumbed to the Dark side in

the previous game, and now serves as a

mercenary for the New Republic.

It isn’t long before Kyle starts

regaining his connection to the Force

and uses his powers to make a stand

against the Dark Jedi Desann. The game

gives you the choice of playing in first or

third person, switchable whenever you

like. Alongside the single-player

campaign is a challenging multiplayer

mode that sees two players either going

head to head in duel matches or teaming

up against up to 14 AI-controlled bots. Q

Strong combat? Good multiplayer

mode? A Jedi craves these things
