gathering colonies on not just other
planets but in space, too. These
orbital colonies will enable you to
create spacecraft without being
restricted by gravity, which is essential
for creating ships worthy of interstellar
travel. That’s right: this time, instead
of being limited to exploring just one
solar system, you’ll now be able to

cast off into deep space and reach
distant stars, further expanding your
colonisation efforts.
The game will also include a
long-requested multiplayer mode,
but little is known about that right
now. For now Star Theory is saying,
“Soon players will be able to share the
challenges of deep space exploration
together.” Fingers crossed for creating
rockets with friends. The devs are also
going to great efforts to make the
game more accessible to modders,
which was a huge component of the
pervious game and proved essential to
the growth of the franchise.

If the thought of applying real science
to create your very own rockets
makes you sweat in places you didn’t
know you could, don’t worry about
it. KSP2 will improve on the previous
game’s tutorial and will include new
animations to help new and existing
players to better understand the core
concepts required for a successful
launch. Don’t think this will make the
game any easier, though, as KSP2
will be just as challenging as its
prequel. If anything, with the addition
of interstellar travel and the new
technologies to contend with, it has
the potential to be even more difficult.
There was already an endless
amount of fun to be had in the
previous Kerbal Space Program,
but with all the new additions and
improvements of this sequel, the
possibilities will truly be endless.
We look forward to creating our own
space colony and watching it all burst
into flames moments later, only to try
to succeed again and again when the
game is released next year. Q

Everyone’s favourite space flight
sim is back, and it’s more ambitious
than before. Never has the saying
‘failure is the key to success’ been
more appropriate than in Kerbal Space
Program. Your goal is to venture into
outer space by creating a variety of
spacecraft using an array of materials
and parts. It sounds simple enough,
but doing it with any level of success
takes a lot, and we mean a lot, of
trial and error, thanks to the game’s
realistic simulation of aerodynamics
and orbital physics.
Development for the sequel has
been handed over to Star Theory
Games which is looking to improve
on the original concept of KSP in
several ways. Players will now be
able to create and manage resource-
