Being able to harness the power of
the Force has many uses, obviously,
but aside from telekinetic force
blasts and other such offensive and
defensive moves, having this
mystical life energy flowing through
him makes Cal pretty spry. In fact, he
can wall run and leap up vertical
surfaces like the Prince Of Persia
himself. It’s a nice mechanic that
grants Cal a level of superpowered
fluidity that keeps what would
otherwise be grounded combat from
feeling stodgy. And all those huge,
chasm-like shafts that run down the
middle of every sizeable space
station and base in the Star Wars^
universe should be no biggie for our
young Jedi.

Xbox

Xbox One X is, of course, the best
console to play anything on, but Jedi:
Fallen Order looks particularly good on
Xbox One X – so if you’re looking to
upgrade, or even just get a new S,
there are a fantastic couple of
bundles on the way too. Each bundle
comes packed with an Xbox Wireless
Controller, digital download of Star
Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a month of
Game Pass, a month of Xbox Live Gold
and a month of EA access. The Xbox
One X bundle retails at £449.99/$500
while the S bundle costs £249.99/
$300. If you’re in any doubt that Xbox
and Star Wars go together like Knight
and Padawan, check out our ‘Games
Of Star Wars’ supplement this issue!

Dark Souls isn’t the only Japanese
influence on Jedi: Fallen Order. In a
game involving a lot of patient melee
combat with multiple enemies, crowd
control is key, and the team looked
to Nintendo’s Zelda games’
innovative Z-targeting system that
allowed you to lock onto specific
enemies so you’re always facing
where you need to. This mechanic is
vital to the combat here, although it
won’t be mapped to the left trigger,
as this is where you’ll find Force
powers, but instead activated upon
depressing the right stick.

A-Z OF JEDI: FALLEN ORDER

Younglings

Force-sensitive children from
across the galaxy, including Cal
Kestis, were recruited to train as
Jedi and brought to the Jedi
Temple on Coruscant at a young
age. Should these Younglings
pass a series of Initiate Trials,
they would rise to the rank of
Padawan, an apprentice to a full
Jedi. Yoda was an instructor of
Younglings at the Jedi Temple,
before Order 66 resulted in the
massacre of the Younglings at
the hands of Darth Vader.
