Rottingdean Windmill
by Edd Allen
Nikon D610, 18mm lens,
1/50sec at f/9, ISO 100
IT WAS an extremely wet and windy day when
Edd Allen paid a visit to Rottingdean windmill,
just outside Brighton. ‘It was my first visit to the
site and I was struck by how the windmill stood
out against the dark foreboding rain clouds,’
he explains. ‘I tried to enhance the atmosphere
using my infrared-converted Nikon D610.
Owing to the low light and strong winds a tripod
was essential.’ This was uploaded to our Twitter
feed using the hasthtag #appicoftheweek.

‘WATERLILIES are one of my favourite flowers,’
says Roop Khural. ‘I can’t stop dreaming up new
ways to capture them with my camera. I work full
time as a visitor host at Kew Gardens, and often
take pictures during my breaks. I took this shot
inside the glasshouse on a hot day with beautiful
light streaming in.’ Roop uploaded this shot to
our Instagram page using #appicoftheweek.
