Your series ‘La Terreta’ and ‘Hooked
on their mobiles’ both got great
recognition. Can you explain more
about these bodies of work?
The ‘Hooked on their mobiles’ series shows
the increasing dependence our society has
on electronic devices. The subjects have
been lit by the illumination of their phone
screen. The images capture an intimacy
as well as the unique facial expressions
of people from different generations.
The lights and shadows draw you in
and the images makes us reflect on the
relationship and interaction we have with

finalists was a real honour. I already felt
like I was a winner to be able to live that
experience. As a result of the selection as
a finalist I received some job offers, so for
my career it has been a great leap. Now all
that remains is to work hard and take
advantage of everything that comes.

How was the award ceremony
in London?
It could not have gone better. My parents
and my partner came from Spain and
being able to celebrate this with them
was priceless. There was so much going
on, from expert portfolio reviews to seeing
the exhibition. There was also an intimate
talk with Nadav Kander where he
reviewed his career as a photographer and
we were able to ask questions. For me it
was an unforgettable experience, and they
treated me so well. I learnt a lot from my
contemporaries and from all the
professionals who attended.
