A Close Call

Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge crosses the
ɿnish line on October 12 to become
the ɿrst person to break the twohour
barrier for a marathondistance runŜa
feat he compared to reaching the moon.
The run, which was not an ofɿcial
marathon, was perfectly engineered
and included a pacesetting laser
projected from a car that was
followed by pacesetters running in an
aerodynamic “V” formation. Kipchoge’s
ɿnal time was 1hr 5min 40.2sec.
