CurrentlyI’musing
Snapseedforthiswhichis
a fantasticsoftware,butI
havea problem.I’musing
the‘AddText’option
sothattheinformation
becomespartof the
picturebutcan’tfind
anyoptiontochoosea
particularfontsizesothat,
whenprinted;everything
looksuniform.I realise
thatthere’sanoption
forresizingtextusingthe
‘Pinch’option,butthisisn’t
accurate enough. Any help

muchappreciated.

week we pay a visit to October 1955

A good feature on indoor photography using a Box Brownie

WHIZZINGbackto1955,wefindanengrossing
featureonhowtogetgoodresultsindoorsusing
a KodakBoxBrownie.Whileit nowseemsas
antiquatedasa pennyfarthing,theBrowniewasa
still-sprightly 55 whenthisissuecameout,andas
authorS D Jouharpointsout,youcangetsurprisingly
goodresultswiththisverybasicdevice.Indeed,we
havebeenconsideringsendingoutmoderndigital
photographerswitha BoxBrownietoseehowthey
geton.Youcanpickupwell-usedexamplesof the
Brownieat carbootsalesorantiquefairsforabout
£20.If youwantminimalist,theBrownieis certainly
thewaytogo,asit hasa fixedapertureandonly
oneshutterspeed.Elsewherein theissue,editorA L
Sowerbywritesa pieceonthePhotographicAlliance,
a nationalbodywhichstillexists(www.thepagb.org.uk).
Healsopaystributestoaward-winningscientists,
