Motorsport library set to overtake pic thieves
The motorsport image stock library, Motorsport Images, has
teamed up with copyright-enforcement service ImageRights
International. Via the deal, Motorsport Images, which has over 23
million images, will be able to create a unique identity for each one,
with AI searching the web for sites where they have been used
without permission. ‘We are determined to get Motorsport and its
photographers paid for their work,’ said the ImageRights CEO.

Indian legend wins big
Raghu Rai, one of India’s best-known photographers, has won the
rather awkwardly named Académie des beaux-arts Photography
Award - William Klein. Rai, who is best known for his coverage
of the 1984 Bhopal disaster and has been a member of Magnum
Photos since 1977, receives a generous prize purse of €120,
for his ‘lifelong commitment’ to photography.

More new tools

revealed in Luminar 4
Skylum has released details
of two more major features
in its Luminar 4 photo-editing
software, expected before
the end of the year. AI Skin
Enhancer is said to detect faces
and skin automatically, to allow
you to remove facial blemishes
and smooth out skin. Portrait
Enhancer is a set of tools,
including Dark Circle Removal,
Face-aware Lighting and Eye
Improvement, for editing people
shots. See http://www.skylum.com.

Leica, Nikon, Olympus opt out of Photokina
Next year’s Photokina photography show in Cologne won’t feature
these three big names, the organisers have confirmed. While this
is a blow, they have confirmed the attendance of Canon, Sony,
Panasonic, Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, Hasselblad and other key players.
Nikon and Olympus will, however, be at The Photography Show at
the NEC, Birmingham, from 14-17 March 2020.
