STEP 10
Over the dry layer of the lake color, I added the waves as dark
and light alternating rows, each one farther apart as they
moved down the picture plane. Keeping the strokes irregular
helped me recreate the look of rippling water.STEP 11
I drew in the railing with white chalk, using
a T-square to keep the lines straight and level.STEP 9
I added a second layer to the fi gure, fi rst oiling out the dry layer
with the medium mixture described in step 5. I deepened the
shadows, keeping the colors cool by adding ultramarine blue and
neutral tint into the fl esh-color mixtures. After that, I applied
a second layer to the guitar, using burnt sienna and black, and
placed the Venetian bauta mask (emphasizing the romance of
night), using white, black and transparent earth yellow.STEP 12
With a size 0 Colour Shaper tool, I rubbed off the paper
