Make a... wall hanging
Make a... fringe edging
Step 1
Step 2
MAKE your panel into a wall hanging, by cutting
a piece of Christmas fabric the same size as your
afghan. Place the stitched afghan and the
Christmas fabric right-sides together. Fold each
length of webbing in half, and then slip the folded
end between the two layers of fabric, with the cut
ends over the stitching line – make sure they are
evenly placed across the top of the afghan.
SEW around the edge of the afghan, using the
outer border edge of the afghan as a guide,
and leaving a gap on one side for turning. Turn
through to the right side, and sew up the gap
with small, neat stitches.
KNOT a border edging for your afghan if you
prefer. To begin, strip away all the horizontal
threads across each side of your afghan.
Separate the vertical threads into groups of four,
and then take the right-hand bundle of four over
and then under the left-hand bundle, bringing the
thread ends out in the loop made by the threads.
Pull the threads gently and evenly, so that the
knot sits tightly against the border. Repeat, taking
the left-hand bundle over the right. Adjust the
knot and repeat on all sides of the afghan.
