The Kitchen
In the late 1970s, Kathy Brennan (Melissa
McCarthy), Ruby O’Carroll (Tiffany Haddish)
and Claire Walsh (Elisabeth Moss), wives
of Irish mobsters, take matters into their
own brutal hands after their husbands are
arrested. The three women find surprising
success when handling organized
crime operations in the Hell’s Kitchen
neighborhood of New York City.
FIVE FACTS:
- This movie is adapted from the DC Vertigo
comic book series of the same name. - This is the first feature film directed by
Andrea Berloff, who co-wrote 2015’s Dr.
Dre-starring biopic Straight Outta Compton. - The Kitchen is the first theatrically-
released DC film to carry an R rating since
2009’s Watchmen. - Bill Camp features in this film as well
as another R-rated DC film released later
in 2019, Joker. - This is not Elisabeth Moss’s first acting
performance for a DC property; as a little
girl, she voiced Kimmy Ventrix in the early
1990s classic Batman: The Animated Series.
