Pick what to send
To send one file, open it in an
app such as Photos or Files, then tap
on the share sheet icon in the bottom–
left corner. To send multiple files, tap
Select in the top–right first, highlight
the files, then tap on the Share icon.
Pick nearby device
When the share sheet opens,
you should see the AirDrop logo on the
left–hand side, underneath the selected
file. After a second or two this should
be replaced by any available devices
nearby. Tap on one to send the file.
Send the file
Once you tap on the desired
recipient, the file transfer will begin. A
blue line moves around the recipient’s
icon to indicate progress. Once the file
transfer has completed, the file will
appear on the recipient’s device.
AIRDROP IS EASY to miss,
but it’s a great example of
the strength of the Apple
ecosystem. It allows you to

In iOS, go to Settings > General >
AirDrop and choose Contacts Only or
Everyone. On a Mac, click Go > AirDrop
and check the “Allow me to be discovered
by” status at the bottom of the window,
then choose Contacts Only or Everyone.
Note that if you choose the former on iOS
or Mac, both devices must be signed in to
iCloud and have each other in their list of
