Beginner's Guide to Crochet - UK (2019-10)

CROCHET AMIGURUMI

NOTES

The pattern is worked using the amigurumi

method. Work in a continuous spiral without

closing off the round with a ss. It may help to

use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each

round, moving it up as you work.

EGG

Using white yarn, make a magic loop.

Round 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), 4dc into

the ring. [4 dc]

Round 2 2dc in each stitch around.

[8 dc]

Round 3 *Dc in the next st, 2dc in the next st;

repeat from * around. [12 dc]

Round 4 *Dc in the next 2 sts, 2dc in the next

st; repeat from * around.

[16 dc]

Round 5 *Dc in the next 3 sts, 2dc in the next

st; repeat from * around.

[20 dc]

Round 6 *Dc in the next 4 sts, 2dc in the next

st; repeat from * around.

[24 dc]

Rounds 7-8 Dc in each dc around.

Rounds 9-14 Change yarn to your colour

choice, dc in each dc around.

Part stuff egg with toy stuffing.

Round 15 *Dc2tog, dc in the next 2 dc; repeat

from * around. [18 sts]

Round 16 *Dc2tog, dc in the next dc; repeat

from * around. [12 sts]

Stuff egg firmly with toy stuffing before

closing with the next round.

Round 17 (Dc2tog) 6 times. [6 sts]

Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Using white thread and tapestry needle, sew

the black beads in place after Round 7, leaving

4 stitches spacing between each bead.

Using the moustache templates provided

(see opposite), choose the moustache design

that you prefer.

Trace the shape onto a piece of paper, cut it

out, pin it against a piece of black felt and cut

out the shape.

Lastly, glue or sew the black felt moustache

onto your crocheted egg.

Q A 3mm (US C/2 or D/3) hook

TENSION AND SIZE

Tension is not critical for this project.

Each egg measures approx 5cm

(2in) in length.
