prefer – or leave it without if you like it better plain

If you don’t have a pompom maker, simply cut out
two large circles of cardboard to use instead

work some extra rows as desired.
Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP
Fold Hat so short ends line up.
Using Neptune and with WS facing out, sew
the short ends together to form a tube.
Thread Neptune onto a darning needle and
weave yarn through each st of final round.
Pull yarn tight to close the top of the Hat, sew
some extra sts to secure and weave in ends.
For best results block Hat (see p131).
Using Luna make a pompom and attach to
top of Hat.

HEART DESIGN (OPTIONAL)
Using Luna sew a small v shape around
central st at front over Row 6, next sew 3 v
shapes over row 8 lining up the central sts
and leaving 1 htr between each v, sew 5 v
shapes over row 10 and 12 (these should line
up), and finally over Row 14 sew 4 v shapes
leaving a space over the central st. You can
use the image as a guide.
Weave in any remaining ends.
