QUESTIONS
Where are you from, and what kind of work do you do?
I was born in Virginia but raised in Louisiana from age six. I was
always interested in art or being creative in some form. Also, being
a tech nerd, it was only natural to combine those passions into a
digital art career. I’m very fortunate to be able to make a living
doing what I love!
Where do you look for inspiration?
While movies, in general, inspire me in a variety of ways, I’m
always moved by the visual style of Steven Spielberg. He was one
of the few filmmakers who inspired my imagination when I was
a kid and is still doing it today. When I feel like I’m stuck in a rut,
I watch Raiders of the Lost Ark.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
My goal is to set off that creative spark in someone like I got when
I was a young artist. The kind of training I do today is the kind
I wish I had available when I was learning. I have even heard that
some of my books have been used in grade school level curriculum.
Do you have any work rituals?
I cannot work in silence. I either have music or a movie playing in
the background. Plus, I’m most creative late at night.
Are there any hardware or software tools
you just couldn’t live without?
A Mac system with Photoshop, and a Wacom tablet. With those
three things I can move mountains!
