› › HOW TOStep Eight: Create a new layer
named “Text Base” beneath the
text layers. Hold down Shift-Com-
mand (PC: Shift-Ctrl) and click on
the thumbnail of each text layer in
the Layers panel to build a selec-
tion in the shape of the text. Go to
Select>Modify>Expand, expand the
selection by 5 pixels, and click OK.
Set the Foreground color to a mid
gray (#aaaaaa) and press Option-
Delete (PC: Alt-Backspace) to fill the
selection with that gray color. Press
Command-D (PC: Ctrl-D) to cancel
the selection.Step Nine: On the Text Base layer,
click on the Add a Layer Style icon
(ƒx) at the bottom of the Layers panel,
and select Bevel & Emboss. Set the
Style to Emboss, Depth to 74%, Size
to 5 px, Shading Angle to 103°, and
Altitude to 30°. Click on the Gloss
Contour thumbnail, and select Roll-
ing Slope – Descending in the Preset
drop-down menu. Click on the third
point on the curve and set its Input
value to 34% and its Output value
to 64%. Click OK to close the Con-
tour Editor. Set the Opacity for both
the Highlight and Shadow Modes
to 100%. Don’t click OK in the Layer
Style dialog yet.Step 10: Click on Inner Shadow in
the list of Styles on the left. Set the
Blend Mode to Multiply, the Opacity
to 60%, Angle to 103°, Distance to
18 px, Choke to 0%, and the Size to
13 px. Don’t click OK yet.
