› › HOW TO

Step Nine: Create a new Solid
Color fill layer at the top of the Rock
layer stack in the Rock group, and
fill it with white (#ffffff). Change
its blending mode from Normal to
Saturation, and leave its Opacity at
100%. Create a clipping mask by
Right-clicking the layer and select-
ing Create Clipping Mask. Name
this layer “Soften Sun Reflection.”
By doing this, we soften the
“sunlight” we created in Step
Eight, creating further realism and
preventing the rock from looking
too yellow.

Step 10: Command-click (PC:
Ctrl-click) on one of the layer
mask thumbnails on any of the
rock layers to select the rock. Press
Shift-Command-I (PC: Shift-Ctrl-
I) to Inverse the selection so the
water is selected.

Step 11: Create a Solid Color fill
layer set to a blue color (#03132d)
above the Rock group. Lower the
Opacity to 50%, and change its
blending mode from Normal to
Color. Name the layer “Water.”

Step 12: Duplicate the blue
Water layer, and change the
duplicate’s color to a light blue
(#2386ad). Change its Opacity
to 10% and leave the blending
mode set to Color.

Step 13: Duplicate the light-blue
Water copy layer, change the
duplicate’s color to a grayish blue
(#a1adc5), and increase its Opacity
to 20%.
