› › HOW TO
Step 17: Create an orange Solid
Color fill layer (#fbb631) at the
top of the water stack, change
its blending mode from Normal
to Pin Light, and reduce its Opac-
ity to 30%. Right-click on this
layer and select Create Clipping
Mask. This enables only the sun
gradient reflection to have a little
orange (since the sun contains
orange hues). Name this layer
“Sun Reflection” as well.
COLORIZING SHEEN ON
GLASS NEAR A WINDOW
In this tutorial, we’ll colorize a glass,
based on sunlight coming through
a window. You can find the image
that we’re using by clicking here.
Step One: Press Command-J (PC:
Ctrl-J) to duplicate the Background
layer to work nondestructively.
Step Two: Let’s begin by color-
izing the wall first. Use the Quick
Selection tool to select the narrow
window area on the top left side
of the image. If the Quick Selec-
tion tool selects too much, hold
the Option (PC: Alt) key, and paint
to remove those areas. Press Shift-
Command-I (PC: Shift-Ctrl-I) to
inverse the selection to the rest of
the image.
Create a light-tan (#c6bfb8)
Solid Color fill layer. It will use the
selection to create the layer mask
so the fill layer doesn’t affect the
window area. Reduce its Opacity
to 50%, and change its blend-
ing mode from Normal to Color.
Name the layer “Wall.”
