How to make the table runner
For the placemat
1
Cut your two stitched pieces
to 116x7cm (45x2¾in) and
back with iron-on interfacing. We
repeated the pattern six times on
each side to create this length but
you can make it longer or shorter by
doing more or fewer repeats.
2
For the centre panel, cut your
backing fabric to 116x23cm
(45½x9in). For your back panel, cut
the fabric to 116x33cm (45½x13in).
3
With right sides facing, pin one
of the stitched pieces to the
top edge centre panel and stitch a
1cm (¾in) seam. Repeat this process
along the bottom edge with your
remaining stitched panel.
4
With right sides facing, pin your
back and front pieces together.
Stitch a 1cm (¾in) seam around all
edges leaving a 4cm (1½in) gap for
turning through. Turn, press and
slip stitch the gap closed along the
bottom edge with your remaining
stitched panel.
1
Cut out the stitched piece to
measure 41x14cm (16x7½in)
and back with iron-on interfacing.
2
For the top panel, cut the
backing fabric to 41x19cm
(16x7½in), and cut another piece
of fabric measuring 41x32cm
(16¼x12½in) for the back panel.
3
With right sides facing, pin the
top panel to your stitched piece.
Stitch them together along the top
edge of your stitched piece with a
1cm (¾in) seam, and iron seam flat.
4
With right sides facing, pin your
back and front pieces together.
Stitch a 1cm (¾in) seam around all
edges leaving a 4cm (1½in) gap for
turning through. Turn, press and slip
stitch the gap closed.
