This fortnight’s most useful tips and add-ons to help you get the

most from Chrome, Firefox, Opera and more

Customise your new tabs
If you’re looking to make your new
tabs more exciting and enhance them
with some practical tools, then install
@Home (bit.ly/home488). This
add-on starts you off with a blank
slate when you first open a new tab,
but click the three-line button and
you’ll find a host of options to add.
Start by choosing the tile icon. This
is the ‘store’ (don’t worry, it’s all free),
where you can add various extras
such as a clock, a search bar and
quick links to your favourite sites.
Drag and drop the modules into place,
then open the three-line menu again
and click the pencil icon to resize the
boxes on the new tab.
Now click the cog to enter the
settings for each element – you can
write a greeting message, add URLs
to your quick links and create
background images or colours.
