Play old games on your

Windows 10 PC

Wayne Williams delves into his gaming archives to find classic

titles that he can still play on his modern PC

Where to get old games
You may have a pile of old games
gathering dust in the loft or the garage
that you can use but, failing that, you can
pick up old titles from charity shops, car
boot sales or eBay.
Some publishers have released old
titles as freeware so, if you missed them
at the time, you can catch up for free.

I

t’s fun to revisit your youth
from time to time, listening
to old songs you’ve not
heard in years or sitting back
to watch a film you vividly
recall going to see at the
cinema. Playing old games
that you used to enjoy but
haven’t thought about in a
long time can be equally
rewarding, giving you a
chance to complete a title
you always meant to go back
to or unlocking long dormant
skills, such as remembering
how to rocket-jump in the
original Quake. Sadly, firing
up an old PC game isn’t
always as straightforward as
you might expect, and
there’s no guarantee it will
run on modern hardware or
in Windows 10. But where
there’s a will to play old
games, there’s a way, as we’ll
show you in this issue’s
Weekend Project.
