Bring colour to the darkest of winter days
by casting on one of the projects in Kaffe
Fassett’s new pattern collection, Winter
Vintage. Designed for Rowan, and using
its Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze yarns,
the collection offers six patterns for women.
The intarsia technique has been used to
create large-scale floral motifs on the ‘Dark
Daisy Shawl’. A pattern of marled diamonds
appears on the ‘Shaded Diamond’ jumper,
while a plethora of tiny intarsia and Fair Isle
patterns decorates the ‘Sampler Scarf’.
‘Contrast Squares’ is a dramatic intarsia
shawl with a design that mimics mitred
squares, and the ‘Colours in the Mist’ sweater
and scarf feature a delicate stripe pattern.

WINTER SOCKS
‘Robin’ is a festive self-striping colourway of
Signature 4ply, launched by West Yorkshire
Spinners especially for Christmas. Inspired by
the plumage of Britain’s favourite bird, the
colourway was developed by Winwick Mum,
aka Christine Perry. She has also designed
a special cabled sock pattern to exploit the
colours of Robin, which is free with every
purchase of this yarn. £7.50 per 100g ball.
