What do you fi nd most challenging
about designing quilts? What do you
enjoy most?

I think the most challenging part
about designing quilts is narrowing
down what drawing becomes reality
and having time to sew all the cre-
ations that make the cut! There are
countless quilts in my sketchbook that
I probably will never get to sew.

I enjoy the process so much. The fact
that I create my own design from thin
air is enough to make me giddy. Then
the fact that I get to translate it into
logical, mathematical, concrete forms
is a fun challenge. Finally, I love the
fi nished piece. To step back and say
that I created it from start to fi nish
feels like a real accomplishment.

Do you have any tips for making this
design?
My best tip for this design is to take
your time and match those points!
For the Starline quilt specifi cally, I got
great results in matching my points by
poking a pin straight through the cor-
ner seam allowances while matching
seams and rows.
