About This Quilt
Get ready to be the envy of
your classmates at the yoga stu-
dio. This adorable bag by Natalie
Santini mixes quilting cotton with
iridescent vinyl for a bright and
fun effect. If you decide to use vinyl
for your bag, use a Tefl on or roller
foot on your machine when you
sew this specialty material. Natalie
shares tips on sewing with vinyl,
as well as offering supplies on her
website (hungryhippiesews.com).
Where noted in the pattern, use an
accurate^1 ⁄ 2 " seam allowance for best
results.

Making the Bag
Layer blue print A right side up
on batting. Referring to the Quilting
Placement diagram, quilt straight
lines approximately 1" apart hori-
zontally as shown. Trim to
171 ⁄ 2 " x 211 ⁄ 2 ".


Sew quilted A and pink vinylB
together as shown to make bag
exterior. Press seam towardsquilted
A, being careful not to touchvinyl
with the iron.

ReferringtoPocketAssemblydia-
gram, place woven interfacingC on
the back of 1 blue print C andpress.
Place remaining blue print Contop
of interfacing backed C, rightsides
together, and sew a^1 ⁄ 4 " seamaround
three sides. Turn right side outand
press. Turn opening under^1 ⁄ 4 " and
press. Topstitch^1 ⁄ 8 " from thetop
edge to close.

Fold A in half and lightly crease
the fold. Referring to the Pocket
Placement diagram, center C on
bag exterior 6" down from the top
as shown. Topstitch in place around
sides and bottom, leaving top open,
to make pocket.
