Nikon Z 50 on sale now
The third model in the mirrorless Z range has a 21MP APS-C sensor – the new
camera is available as a kit with a new DX 16-50mm or new DX 50-250mm lensN
ikon has added a new model its Z range
of mirrorless cameras, just in time for the
start of the festive season. And at just
£849 (body only), it could well feature on the
Christmas wish list of many a Nikon enthusiast.
The compact Z 50 is the third model in the Z
line-up, which launched last year with the full-frame
Z 7 and Z 6, both aimed at the professional market.
The Z 50 opts for an APS-C sensor, though, which
means a lower price point that will extend the
appeal of the Z range to new customers – hobby
photographers looking to keep abreast of technicaldevelopments and move to mirrorless, as well as
the swelling ranks of content creators filming video.
Alongside its 20.9MP sensor, the Z 50’s feature
set includes phase-detection AF, uncropped
oversampled 4K video (with Full HD video at up to
120fps), a single memory card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
and a 3.2-in tilting touchscreen. Nikon DSLR lenses
can be used via Nikon’s FTZ adaptor.
Nikon also released a DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 lens
(available as a kit with a new Z 50 for £989) and a
DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 (plus a Z 50, £1,199).
