photo competition to promote reforestation

oftware developer Skylum
is calling for entries to its
new photo competition.
The Beautiful Act Photo Awards is
a collaboration with ViewBug and
Iceland Photo Tours, and sees
Skylum also team up with Eden
Reforestation Projects – 10% from
each entry will be donated to the
reforestation cause. Submissions
are invited across six different

categories: Landscapes, Nature,
Cities, Aerial, People and Trees.
The Grand Prize winner gets
a tour from Iceland Photo Tours
worth $10,000, $1,000 cash and
a place at February’s Luminar
Photo Camp in Iceland. Category
winners win $500 each; People’s
Choice winners win $250 each.

New Fujifilm X-Pro


X-Pro3 APS-C camera features a
chimping-proof ‘hidden’ LCD screen

the tyranny of ‘chimping’ (constantly reviewing
images on the back of the camera), Fujifilm’s latest
X-Pro features a ‘hidden’ LCD rear screen. It’s the headline
feature on this new model, which also boasts a 26.1MP
APS-C sensor, contrast and phase detection AF, 20 fps
maximum burst (electronic shutter) and 4K video up
to 30fps, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity.

Olympus is 100!


... and launches the E-M5 Mark III


T


he wait is over... a few days after
reaching its 100th birthday, Olympus
announced the latest OM-D E-M5.
The Mark III features a 20.4MP MOS sensor
with a TruPic VIII image processor, 121-point
Dual Phase and Contrast Detect AF, five-axis
IBS with up to five steps of compensation,
4K video recording, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Body only, the E-M5 Mark III weighs just 366g
and is available now in silver or black finishes.

Tamron quartet


Four f/2.8 lenses for Sony E-mount coming soon


T


he third-party lens manufacturer used New York’s
PhotoPlus Expo to announce four new lenses for Sony’s
full-frame mirrorless system. One of the quartet is a
70-180mm f/2.8 zoom, and is joined by three primes with focal
lengths of 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f/2.8 and 35mm f/2.8 – these
are the first prime lenses to be produced by Tamron in its Di III
Sony E-mount range. All four lenses offer impressive close
focusing characteristics, and although prices are yet to be
confirmed, the 24mm and the 35mm will reach stores in
December, with the 20mm arriving in January 2020.
The 70-180mm will follow in Spring 2020.
