WHY THIS SHOT WORKS

Colour balance: The image is
balanced by two bold, bright
main colours: the blue of the
sea and the red of the huts.
Portrait format: I find that
landscape images can be more
impactful in portrait: it gives
you the opportunity to compose
with a stronger foreground.
Light: Winter in Norway means
the light is always low. Here it’s just
hitting the tops of the mountains to
lend some dynamism to the image.
Polariser: Using a circular
polariser helps to bring out some
of the detail in the foreground
as well as make the colour pop.
