THE RUNDOWN

The Lincoln’s base engine is a 2 .0-liter four-
banger with 25 0 horsepower and 2 80 pound-
feet of torque, an engine that’s shared with a
number of Ford products, including the Escape.
Ford’s familiar EcoBoost 2 .3-liter is optional
and makes 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet
in the Corsair. The larger powerplant moves
aURYVaaYR9V[P\Y[NOYfN[Q^bV_a\ßRß_aYR` runs to 6 0 mph in 6 .0 seconds. While that’s quick enough to give a snoozing Volkswagen GTI a run for its money, what’s more likely to impress the typical buyer is the easy way the Corsair glides along at part throttle on the 2 .3’s ample low-end torque. You can push the Corsair hard, but demand too much and it will resist your antics. The steering is crisp and responsive, and the chassis feels willing, but the always-on stability control aU_\daURN[PU_NaaUR¼_aVT[\SUR[N[- igans. Switching to Excite mode—the most dynamic setting—alters the powertrain, steer- ing, and suspension tuning. But it really doesn’t appear to change much. So calm down, go back to Normal mode, leave things alone, enjoy those RNa`N[QaNXRV[aURdRYY\ba¼aaRQPNOV[


Rear-seat room is more accommo-
dating than you’d expect based on the
Corsair’s exterior appearance. Look-
ing a lot like a scaled-down Navigator’s
interior, the cabin is a blend of Kennedy-
era Lincoln glitz and 2 1st-centur y
displays. Unfortunately, the reproduc-
tion is a little too faithful to the Gator,
which means the Corsair is stuck with a
facsimile of its big brother’s unconven-
tional push-button PRNDL.
From the chrome grille to the
Porsche Cayenne–like taillights, Lin-
coln’s exterior designers threw all their
best ideas at the Corsair. Pulling exten-
sively from the family album was a good
move and leaves the Corsair looking a
lot like its larger kin, the attractive and
_R¼[RQ.cVNa\_
.]N_aS_\ZaURU\\Q½baaR_aUR_Rμ`
nothing overtly cheap about the Cor-
sair, and the high level of isolation and
_R¼[RZR[a V` V[ XRR]V[T dVaU N \[PR
]\]bYN_QR¼[VaV\[\S.ZR_VPN[Ybeb_f
But while smallness doesn’t preclude a
TR[bV[R`R[`R\S Ybeb_f`VgRQ\R`¼Tb_R
into pricing. While a base, front-drive
Corsair is a $ 36 , 9 40 proposition, our
all-wheel-drive Reserve with the 2 .3-
liter carries a $58, 5 10 price tag. That’s
a lot of ducats for something this small.
We recommend going easy on the extras
because no matter what you add to the
0 \_`NV_aURU\\QdVYY`aVYY½baaR_DR_R
it 40 grand, we could maybe stomach
this annoyance. For 6 0, no way.
