WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING

The ’03 and ’04 model

years came with a 300-hp

5.3L V-8, but if performance

matters, go with the ’05 or

’06 with the 6.0L LS2 V-8

with 390 hp. An ’06 with a

manual would make 400 hp.

Owners have complained

about door latches failing,

especially interior handles.

Check all handles and latches,

including in the truck bed, as

replacement parts can be

hard to find.

Check the dash to make

sure all the gauges work

correctly. Some owners

have complained of faulty

electrical systems that

often show up in failures

in the cluster.
