  1. CHARTING THE CHANGES. CAR AND DRIVER. OCT/2019

New Cars for 20 20 Chevrolet — Fiat

Voyager: Plymouth used
to make a minivan called
the Voyager. Remember
Plymouth? Now that name
has reemerged on what is
essentially a stripped-down
Chrysler Pacifica. Why? The
Voyager is for buyers on a
budget; the Pacifica will be
the premium minivan in the
Chrysler showroom.

Unchanged: 300, Pacifica

Ferrari

F8 Tributo: With the reboot
of Magnum, P.I. signed for
a second season, it was
imperative that Ferrari get the
308 GTS’s spiritual successor
fitted with four round taillights
instead of the two on the 488.
The bodywork is all new—and
freshly alluring—but mechan-
ically, the Tributo boasts the

Journey: When we found
out that the optional 283-hp
3.6-liter V-6 was being axed
for 2020, so many terrible
jokes about the journey and
the destination jammed up
in our brains like... well, like
traffic behind a Journey with
the 2.4-liter 173-hp four-
cylinder. All-wheel drive, which
was available only with the
V-6, is also off the menu as
the Journey plods toward its
conclusion.

is more than that of eight
Prius Primes, so... The car
has a trio of motors—two at
the front axle and another
between the engine and eight-
speed transaxle. All three help
with energy recuperation and
draw power from a 7.9-kWh
lithium-ion battery. The front
motors also enable all-wheel
drive. Expect this 211-mph
Ferrari to rival the Porsche
918’s record zero-to-60-mph
time of 2.2 seconds—if Ferrari
lets us test one. The swoopy
aluminum and carbon-fiber
bodywork generates a hefty
860 pounds of downforce at
155 mph. Fun fact: The trans-
mission doesn’t have a reverse
gear; the front electric motors
handle that function.

running gear with the Buick
Encore GX (i.e., a pair of
turbocharged three-bangers,
optional all-wheel drive, and
plenty of advanced safety
technologies).

Minor trim changes: Malibu,
Silverado 1500, Traverse, Trax
Unchanged: Express, Spark,
Suburban, Tahoe
Dead: Cruze, Impala, Volt

Dodge Charger: A Widebody setup similar to
what debuted on last year’s Challenger is now
standard on the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat and an
option on the Scat Pack. The Widebody includes new
front and rear fascias as well as unique side sills and

same 710-hp V-8 as the 488
Pista. We’re not complaining.
Figure on a zero-to-60-mph
time of 2.8 seconds and a
top speed of 211 mph. The
F8 Tributo starts around
$277,000—Detroit Tigers
baseball cap and Aloha shirt
sold separately.

SF90 Stradale: This car
boasts many firsts. The first
production Ferrari plug-in
hybrid. The first mid-engined
Ferrari with all-wheel drive.
The first Ferrari to be beaten
by a Toyota Prius. Wait, what?
Okay, so we’re referring to
the Prius Prime’s 25 miles of
electric-only driving range
versus the SF90’s claimed 16,
but then, the SF90’s combined
output of 986 horsepower

MONZA SP1/SP 2
There’s no windshield,
top, or passenger’s seat
in the SP1, so it should
come as no surprise
that this limited-edition
model (Ferrari is making
fewer than 500) isn’t
street legal in the U.S.
The SP2 has two seats,
which makes it twice
as practical as the SP1.
Both are based on the
812 Superfast and should
cost about $1.8 million.
