Ford Mustang: How does 760 horsepower for under $74,000 sound? The new
top dog in the Mustang lineup, the GT500, squeezes that output from a 5.2-liter
V-8 wearing an Eaton-supplied 2.7-liter supercharger. Ford claims the GT500 will
_RNPU#Z]UV[aURZVQaU_RR`RP\[Q_N[TRN[QQb`a\ßaUR^bN_aR_ZVYRV[YR``
than 11 seconds. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is the only transmission. The
GT500 also gets 15.6-inch front brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, adaptive damp-
ers, and a massive grille. If you’re willing to spend more, order the $18,500 Carbon
Fiber Track pack and your GT500 will come with wider rear wheels, supersticky Cup
2 rubber, a giant wing, and no rear seats. Ford is adamant that this GT500 won’t just
be fast in a straight line—it’ll be fast around a track, too. The base Mustang receives a
High Performance pack that brings a bit more power to the 2.3-liter as well as better
aero, brakes, and tires. Add on the EcoBoost Handling package and you get stickier

Ford tweaked the chassis in late 2019, so no further changes there (see our compari-
son test on page 20). The GT350 R gets many of the GT500’s chassis goodies.
